Who We Are
The law firm was first established on January 12, 1979 as Tokunbo Orimobi & Co. The firm in its quest for expansion admitted new partners and registered as a limited partnership, which necessitated a name change to Tokunbo Orimobi LP in 2012, in Nigeria.
In 2004, the firm was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria as Capital Market Solicitors. The firm also has accreditation with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. In 2012, the firm opened branches in Ibadan and Abuja. In 2014, Tokunbo Orimobi initiated concrete steps to becoming a global law firm (with London and New York being the first set of proposed international offices). In 2016, the firm launched in London and New York and full commercial operations began in January 2017. In 2017 also, the firm concluded its Port Louis office set up with full commercial operations set to begin in January 2018.
In October 2018, the firm opened offices in Nigeria’s oil & gas capital – Port Harcourt – this being the firm’s 4th office in Nigeria. In advancing its mission to being a global law firm, the firm opened offices in Accra, Sydney and Seychelles respectively on October 1, 2019.
In 2021, in furtherance to its global expansion and rebranding exercise, the firm transitioned its global brand from Tokunbo Orimobi Legal Group to TOLG.
TOLG is headquartered in Nigeria. The Nigerian office – TOLG Advisors LP – is listed with the International Financial Law Review (IFLR1000) as one of the world’s leading financial law firms and has the status of a “Recommended Firm” with the IFLR1000.
